Cannons Announce 2013 Roster

March 18, 2016

Season Opens This Sunday at the New York Lizards Before a Three-Game Home Stand at Harvard Stadium May 4, 11 & 18

BOSTON, MA - April 22, 2013 - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, today announced their 25-man active roster and 6-man practice squad for the start of the 2013 season, according to Cannons general manager Kevin Barney.

"Obviously, this year was hard with all the talent we had in camp, and cutting the roster down was difficult," said Cannons head coach Steve Duffy. "But we're excited with the guys we have and we're looking forward to getting started in New York this week."

The Cannons open the 2013 season this Sunday, April 28 at 3:30pm on the road against the New York Lizards at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium. The Cannons lost both games to the Lizards last season, first 13-10 at Harvard Stadium then 14-11 in Long Island.

On Saturday, May 4, the Cannons host the Hamilton Nationals in their home opener at Harvard Stadium at 7pm. The Cannons remain home to face the Denver Outlaws on May 11 and the Chesapeake Bayhawks on May 18, both games at 7pm.

With five veterans on the NLL Inactive List while they compete in the indoor playoffs - Mitch Belisle, Kevin Buchanan, Pat Heim, Paul Rabil and Kyle Sweeney - the active roster includes several new players, including Martin Bowes (Hartford '12, midfield), Tom Celentani (UMass '12, defense), Malcolm Chase (Whittier '01, defense), Kevin DeBenedetto (Saint Anselm, '10, defense), and JJ Gilbane (Cornell '12, midfield).

Trade additions include Brent Adams, acquired from the Chesapeake Bayhawks for a fifth round pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft; Colin Briggs, acquired from the Charlotte Hounds for a second round pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft; and Tim Kaiser, acquired today from the New York Lizards for a third round pick in the 2014 Supplemental Draft.
