Max Seibald Signs One-Year Deal to Stay with Cannons

February 14, 2018
Midfielder and MLL All-Star Max Seibald signs 1-year contact to stay on for 2018 with Boston

Boston, MA (February 14, 2018) - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premiere professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Monday that the team has re-signed midfielder Max Seibald through the 2018 season.

Seibald will return for his fourth season with the Cannons in 2018. The midfielder who is a ten-year MLL veteran, had rumors surrounding him about the possibility of retirement from Major League Lacrosse. Those rumors were put to rest this week.

"There is no other organization I would rather suit up for and no other fans I would choose to represent," Seibald stated. "I am very excited to be a Boston Cannon this season."

Seibald was named captain of the Cannons following the 2015 pre-season and helped lead the Cannons to a seven-way tie for first place that ultimately saw the Cannons miss the playoffs due to the league's tiebreak rule. Seibald also had personal career best numbers during his back-to-back seasons with the Cannons.

After playing in 37 regular season games for the Cannons, the midfielder has scored 49 goals, 11 two-point goals (five in 2017), and added 18 assists. Seibald's career started when he was selected #2 overall in the 2009 MLL Collegiate Draft. Seibald is a five-time MLL All-Star and played on the US Men's National Lacrosse Team at the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England, where the US defeated Canada 12-10 to claim the World Championship. He was also named to the 2014 US Men's National Lacrosse Team and in 2017, was named to the Israeli Men’s National Team for the historic 2018 FIL World Championships to be played in Netanya, Israel. He currently has over 200 points in the regular season with his ten years in Major League Lacrosse and is fifth on the all-time MLL leader board for two-point goals with 28 two-point goals.

"Management has done a great job with the new additions to the roster and the coaching staff," Seibald added. "Now it's on us players to do our job to prepare for the season and be ready to execute to the best of our abilities on the field."

The 2018 Boston Cannons season starts with Training Camp on March 24th & March 25th at Endicott College with their Home Opener at Harvard Stadium on May 5th vs Dallas Rattlers
