Paul Rabil was named the Bud Light Player of the Game with three goals and four assists. The Outlaws struck first in every quarter, but eight different Cannons players scored, including hat tricks from Rabil, Mike Stone and Kevin Buchanan.
The Cannons are currently fourth in the league with a 6-4 record. Denver lands at number two with a 7-3 record. The Cannons are coming off a loss to the Long Island Lizards, a game that resulted in a 14-11 loss.
Paul Rabil, Ryan Boyle, and Kevin Buchanan remain among the MLL’s top ten scoring leaders this season. Rabil tops the league with a total of 53 points, comprised of 18 goals, four two-point goals, and 31 assists. Ryan Boyle lands at number four with 12 goals and 22 assists for a total of 34 points. Buchanan lands at number 7 with 20 goals, one two-point goal, and 9 assists for 30 points.
The Outlaws currently have two players in the top ten for scoring leaders. Brendan Mundorf lands at number two with 37 points so far this season, while midfielder Jeremy Sieverts holds spot number six with 30 points.
Last year, the two teams met three times during the season. At Harvard Stadium, the Cannons fell to the Outlaws, 13 -12, in their first loss of the season. When the two teams met again in Denver in front of a record-breaking crowd of 27,184, the Cannons beat the Outlaws, 15 - 12. In the final 2011 match between the Cannons and Outlaws, Bud Light Player of the Game Kevin Buchanan scored the game-winner in a narrow 10-9 victory, solidifying the Cannons spot in the playoffs, which ultimately led them to the MLL Championship.
The Cannons are holding onto the last playoff spot, just two games out of 1st place. The final four games are crucial in solidifying a spot in the championship weekend.
The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network. Coverage begins at 7:00 pm.
