In the Cannons' first ever meeting with the expansion Charlotte Hounds, the Cannons rolled to victory in Boston on May 5. Matt Poskay started the scoring just 16 seconds into the game and he and Ryan Boyle combined for 11 points in the game. The Cannons entered the fourth quarter with a comfortable 16-9 lead. Stephen Berger scored for Charlotte to start the quarter, but the Cannons tallied three straight, including Waltham native Jon Hayes’ first career goal. Jeremy Boltus and Billy Bitter cut into the Cannons’ run, but it was not enough as Stone added one more to end the game, 20-12.
In Charlotte on June 16, the Hounds took an early lead, but Kevin Buchanan answered with two in a row. The team's traded goals before Ryan Boyle and Chris Eck each scored unassisted to take the Cannons into a 5-3 lead after two quarters of play. The Cannons came out firing with Matt Poskay completing his hat trick on three consecutive goals in the first two and a half minutes of the second half, followed by a goal from first-time MLL All-Star Mike Stone. Pat Heim then scored his first goal of the season, and Bill McGlone tacked on one as well. Poskay added two more, and Paul Rabil scored one of his own to see the Cannons two-game losing streak come to an end, defeating the Hounds 16-8. Goalie Jordan Burke was named Bud Light Player of the Game for his 16-save performance.
