Boston Cannons Full-time Positions

Ticket Sales Account Executive

The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse are searching for an experienced motivated professional to sell season ticket packages, group ticket packages, and other related ticket products through outbound, targeted call campaigns to businesses, individuals, and local groups/organizations. The Account Executive will report to the Director of Ticket Sales and will focus on renewing existing accounts, soliciting new business, delivering outstanding customer service, and build relationships that will encourage repeat business and referrals. The Account Executive will also play a large role in the execution of game day and grassroots marketing events.

Responsibilities:

·         Maximize ticket sales revenue through the sale of Season Tickets, Group Tickets, other ticket products

·         Initiate new business while meeting or exceeding daily, weekly and annual sales quotas

·         Maintain and expand a database of ticket sales customers

·         Attend  and prospect new business at lacrosse and other marketing events year round

·         Work cross-functionally with marketing, sponsorship, and PR to maximize ticket sales

·         Work as part of the team with the ability to take on multiple rolls/tasks that may fall outside of the normal duties of the position

·         Act as a trouble-shooter and account liaison on game-day to assist with ticket issues

·         Assist with game day stadium setup and breakdown before and after each game

·         Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Ticket Sales

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         BA/BS Degree

·         1-3 years of direct selling experience preferable in the sports industry

·         Exhibit exceptional work ethic, desire to succeed and passion for a meaningful career in the sports industry

·         Ability to quickly assimilate new information and willingness to learn and apply ticket sales best practices

·         Proactive and eager to take on new projects

·         Ability to quickly determine problem(s) and present solution(s) in difficult situations

·         Ability to multi-task in a high stress environment while keeping a positive and professional manner

·         Expert skills in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word and database programs

·         Effective verbal and written communication and organizational skills

·         Willingness and ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required

Boston Cannons Winter Internships

Marketing & Communications (1-2 positions available)

This position will require interns to work 2-4 days in the Cannons front office plus occasional events around the Boston area. In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, all interns will assist in general marketing activities, and office operations. They will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of running a professional sports team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Update and maintain the Boston Cannons social media content pages

  • Create press releases for local media outlets

  • Develop buzz around the team using strategic media channels

  • Research local sporting and community events around the Boston area

  • Serve inbound customers; answering phones, forwarding messages, confirming customer orders

  • Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a College/University degree in the field of business or communications

  • Excellent computer skills; Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SEO, social media channels

  •  Adobe Photoshop or graphic design experience preferred

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The interns weekly office schedule will vary based on community events and the students academic curriculum.

  • Internship will last through April 1, 2015, with opportunity to continue through 2015 season.

  • The Cannons office is not directly accessible by public transportation (within 1 mile), so applicants should have their own means of transportation.

  • Internships are unpaid, but student can receive course credit.

Group Ticket Sales Internship (1-2 positions available)

The ticket sales Intern will work with the Director of Ticket Sales to assist in all aspects of ticket sales for the Boston Cannons. The intern will learn about one of the most important aspects of professional sports: filling the stadium with fans. The ticket sales intern will assist with community marketing efforts, season ticket promotions, database management, group sales initiatives, and courtesy follow-up calls to past customers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Director of Ticket Sales in all aspects of ticket sales for the Cannons, the most important aspect of professional sports

  • Assist with group sales initiatives, database management, season ticket promotions and more

  • Make sales calls to current and past ticket buyers – must be comfortable on the phone

  • Serve inbound customers; answering phones, forwarding messages, confirming customer orders

  • Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a College/University degree in the field of business or communications

  • Exhibit exceptional work ethic, desire to succeed and passion for a meaningful career in the sports industry
