Breaking: Cannons Announce Return to Harvard Stadium for 2016 Season

Cannons will return to Historic Harvard Stadium

BOSTON, MA (December 1, 2015) - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today that the team will return to Harvard Stadium for the 2016 season, according to Team President, Ian Frenette. The Cannons also announced their complete 2016 schedule which features seven home, and seven away games.

The Cannons called Harvard Stadium home from 2007-2014, and during that eight season span the team was 55-46, posting a 31-21 record at home. The team played its 2015 home games at Gillette Stadium while the school underwent renovations to modernize its athletic facilities.

“Our move back to Harvard Stadium will allow us to continue to create a one of a kind game experience for our fans, players and coaches that is exciting and like no other in the city of Boston,” said Frenette.

The Cannons will host seven home games during the 2016 MLL season under the leadership of new Head Coach , Sean Quirk. The home opener will feature the newest team in MLL, the Atlanta Blaze, who will be coming to Boston for the first time in their franchise history on Saturday, April 30th. The last time the league expanded in 2012, the Cannons posted a 4-0 record against expansion teams (Charlotte, Ohio).

At the tail end of the season, the Cannons will host the New York Lizards on Saturday, July 30th in a re-match of the 2015 MLL semi-final, in which the Cannons fell in overtime to the eventual MLL Champs. With nine teams competing in 2016, each team will have an additional bye week, and will also play two games over a four day span once during the season. In week four, the Cannons will travel to take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Thursday, May 12th and will return home to battle the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday, May 14th at Harvard Stadium.

Existing Cannons Season Ticket Members will get the first chance at securing seats for the 2016 season, and should contact their ticket representative regarding information on renewals. Season Ticket Memberships start at $165 for a seven game package.

”As part of our efforts to continually improve our spectator and game experience we are introducing new seating options and benefits for our Season Ticket Members,” said Frenette. “Our goal with these new seating options is to deliver an experience that best fits the needs of our fans.”

Season Ticket Memberships will go on sale to the public on January 4th. Group packages and individual game tickets will go on sale on January 4th. 2016.
