Boston Cannons Day

Boston Cannons Day

On Monday afternoon, Mayor Menino, "the biggest sports fan in Boston," stood before a crowd of Cannons fans and casual onlookers and declared it Boston Cannons Day in the city. After saying a few words about the Cannons adding another Boston championship, and talking about the team's community involvement, he read the official proclamation and presented it to Cannons owner Matt Dwyer (watch the video below).

Dwyer then spoke on behalf of the team, further emphasizing the players' and coaches' hard work and dedication, both on the field and in the greater Boston area, specifically through MetroLacrosse. Dwyer presented Mayor Menino with his very own Cannons jersey and sideline hat.

Finally, Emily Helm, the president of MetroLacrosse, said a few words about the strong partnership the Cannons and MetroLacrosse have built over the last 11 seasons.

It was an exciting addition to the ongoing celebration of the Cannons' first MLL Championship, and we thank the Mayor and the city for inviting us to City Hall Plaza for the recognition.
