Over 14,500 fans were in attendance at the First Niagara Center as the Buffalo Bandits hosted the Washington Stealth on Saturday night. It took overtime, but Paul Rabil and the Stealth topped the Bandits, 11-10.
Rabil (1 goal, 2 assists) led the way offensively as the Stealth earned their first victory of the season. Kevin Buchanan tallied 2 assists for Buffalo, but could not find the net as he shot 0-9 on the night. Kyle Sweeney recovered 5 loose balls for the Bandits.
The Stealth will look to build off this first win when they host the Calgary Roughnecks on Friday night at 11:00pm. On the other hand, the Bandits will look to snap their three-game losing streak at 4:00pm on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
In other NLL action, Pat Heim was held scoreless for the Philadelphia Wings, who fell to 2-2 on the season. The Wings were routed by Toronto, 15-6.
Cannons’ co-captain Mitch Belisle fielded 3 loose balls for the Minnesota Swarm. Belisle and the Swarm fell short against the Rochester Knighthawks, 16-14. This weekend, Minnesota will have a couple chances to rebound. The Edmonton Rush will visit Minnesota at 8:30pm on Friday night. At 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon, the Swarm will host the Knighthawks for a rematch of the past weekend's duel.
