This weekend in the NLL was relatively quiet for the Boston Cannons. The Buffalo Bandits had the week off, and Paul Rabil’s situation is unclear. Pat Heim and Mitch Belisle were the only Cannons to take the field.
Pat Heim and the Philadelphia Wings won an important Eastern Division game against the Toronto Rock, 14-8. Heim tallied an assist for the Wings, as the team improved to 4-2 on the season. With the victory, Philadelphia claimed sole possession of first place in the East.
The Minnesota Swarm lost its first home game of the season to the undefeated Colorado Mammoth. Mitch Belisle recovered 5 loose balls. The Swarm is now 3-3 on the season, and in third place in the West.
Paul Rabil, recently traded to the Edmonton Rush, did not play this weekend. IL Indoor released the following statement from Rabil’s agent, Chaka Bainbridge: ‘Paul is looking to get closer to his home and various work commitments in the Baltimore area and has the utmost respect for [the entire Rush organization] and hopes that something can be worked out to accommodate that request.’
Rabil has been selected for his second NLL All-Star Game. The game will be played in Buffalo on Saturday, February 25. Fans can watch the best players in the NLL play on ESPN3.
On Friday, the Philadelphia Wings will visit the Edmonton Rush at 9:00 pm. The Minnesota Swarm will look to get back on track against the Washington Stealth at 11:00 pm. Both games can be seen live at http://new.livestream.com/nll.
