Cannons Draftees Tracker - Part II

After earning Big East Offensive Player of the Week honors last week, Kevin Cunningham had high expectations for Villanova's matchup with Bucknell. The senior captain scored 2 goals and notched 1 assist. However, no point was more important than his game-winning goal in overtime, which helped the Wildcats improve to 2-0.

Mark Staines and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels also won in dramatic fashion. The Heels rallied in the fourth quarter to erase a four-goal deficit and trump Navy. Staines had a groundball and a shot on goal in the contest.

Penn opened their season with a tough loss against the Duke Blue Devils. Draftee Will Koshansky caused a turnover for the Quakers who fell short, 12-8. Penn will host Lehigh tonight at 7:00 pm.

Chris Clements and the defending NCAA champion University of Virginia Cavaliers topped Stony Brook, 12-5. Clements recovered a ground ball in the win. The Cavaliers visit Mount Saint Mary’s today at 4:00 pm.

Cornell’s season opener against Hobart has been postponed. Now, JJ Gilbane and the Big Red will open their season against Binghamton today at 4:00 pm.

Greg Mahony and the Yale Bulldogs opened their season with a blowout victory over St. John’s, 19-6. Mahony tallied 2 goals in the win.

The Hartford Hawks dropped their second straight game, 15-14. Cannons draftee Martin Bowes had 1 goal and 1 assist in the overtime heartbreaker against Holy Cross.
