Cannons College Draftee Tracker


The Cannons 2014 draftee's lax seasons are underway. Here is a recap of their performance so far. 

 

Scott McWilliams, Defenseman, (Round 1, #8)- University of Virginia

On Saturday’s game against Rutgers, Scott McWilliams made a diving save in front of their own net to block a potential Rutgers goal on Virginia’s lone failed clear attempt! 

McWIlliams has recorded 10 ground balls, 3 turnovers and 7 forced turnovers through the first five games.

Rob Emery, Midfield, (Round 3, #17)- University of Virginia

Rob Emery was selected on Feb 20, 2014 to be one of 20 men’s lacrosse players selected for the senior class award for excellence on and off the field. To be eligible for this award, the student- athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have achieved in four areas of excellence;  "classroom, character, community and competition". The candidate class will be narrowed down to 10 finalist midway through the regular season and placed on an official ballot for voting by media, coaches and fans.

Emery is off to a hot start recording 6 goals, 3 assists, 19 shots, 7 groundballs, and 4 turnovers through the first five games.

Austin Kaut, Goalie, (Round 3, #19)- Penn State University

In their first game of the season at Michigan, Austin Kaut made 6 saves in 39:45 of action with just 3 goals allowed, giving the Lions the win over Michigan 22-7.

In their third game of the season, Austin Kaut made 13 crucial saves only allowing 7 goals in Penn State’s straight road win against Notre Dame with a score of 8-7.

Through the first 3 games, Kaut has recorded 25 saves with a .532 save percentage, and a 8.25 GAA.

Jack Reilly, Defenseman, (Round 5, #33)- John Hopkins

The 49-man Johns Hopkins roster tallies up a total of 132 combined career starts. Of those 132, Jack Reilly and 3 other seniors account for 114, or 86.7% of them.  With a strong senior class, the Jays(13) go into the Ohio state(15) game with confidence.  In the home opener, Reilly picked up 2 ground balls and caused a crucial turnover, leading to the double overtime win against the Buckeyes.  Reilly then tallied up 3 more ground balls in the game against Towson and then 1 more against Michigan.  

Reilly helped his team to 3-0 start to the season with 6 ground balls and 1 caused turnover.

Erik Smith, Midfielder, (Round 6, #37)- Air Force

In Season opener against Denver, Erik Scored his first goal of the season, but Air Force fell to Denver 8-14.

In Air Force’s second game of the season, Erik tied his career-high four goals, with three of them in the opening period and his fourth in the last period.

Smith has recorded 7 goals, 1 assist, 21 shots, 6 groundballs, and 4 turnovers on the season so far.

Phil Poe, Faceoff Midfielder, (Round 7, #51)- UMBC

In second game of the season again Monmouth, Senior face-off specialist Phil controlled the draws, capturing 17 of 22 in the contest and recorded nine ground balls.

On the season, Poe has 14 groundballs, 4 turnovers,1 forced turnover, and captured 26 of the 42 faceoffs faced.

The Retrievers will play at home next against Richmond March 1st. Read the full recap here

 

Jack Murphy, Goalie, (Round 8, #59)- Fairfield

In game opener at Delaware, Jack stopped eight shots and picked up five ground balls in 57 minutes of action with the win 18-8.

In second game of the season, jack got the win after making 10 saves while allowing just two goals with a score of 18-4.

In 3 games played, Murphy has 26 saves with a .578 save percentage, and a 6.89 GAA.
