2014: Selected in the 8th Round of the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft
After one year at Mass-Maritime, Murphy transferred to Fairfield University. In his junior season, Murphy started every game and was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week three times. As a senior captain, he was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week six times. Murphy was also named to the USILA North/South All-Star team, NEILA East/West All-Star team, ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year, ECAC All-First Team, and the ECAC Championship All-Tournament Team. He was seventh nationally for goals against average (8.35). He finished his career at Fairfield ranked fifth all-time for saves (321).
High School Career:
Murphy earned four varsity letters at Cohasset High School, where he stopped nearly 72 percent of the shots he faced, with 579 career saves. He stopped 248 shots, and posted a 4.04 GAA, as a senior to earn US Lacrosse All-America accolades. He was a two-time SS League All-Star and earned his team’s MVP award. Murphy was strong in the classroom as well, being named All-Scholastic by both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald.
