Boston, MA (June 18, 2014) The Boston Cannons look to get back on track after a hard fought loss on the road to the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Cannons thought they had tied the game at 16 with 8 seconds left to force overtime, but the goal was reviewed and then disallowed, giving the Bayhawks their second win of the season, as the Cannons dropped a heartbreaker.

"Every game is a big one from here on out; we're only a game from second place, so we need to keep battling," said Cannons Head Coach John Tucker.

The Cannons return home to Harvard Stadium after being on the road for the last three games, a road trip in which they only took away one win. The Cannons look to return their win percentage to .500 on the season, while the Machine look to do the same. The Cannons single vicotyr  on the road came against the team that now travels to Harvard stadium, hungry to get revenge for being handed a loss on their home turf.

The Ohio Machine have won 2 of their last 3 games, the loss being to the Cannons. They defeated the Rochester Rattlers last weekend 18-13. Against the Rattlers the Machine used an overpowering 3rd quarter scoring 7 goals to take a 14-11 lead, their first lead of the game at the end of a quarter. Attacker Steele Stanwick dominated the game for the Machine, tallying 6 points, all on assists. Peter Baum also tallied 6 points for the Machine, with 5 goals and 1 assist. Baum now 2nd in the league in goals scored is sure to be a threat against the Cannons especially after they kept him quiet in their matchup, scoring only 1 goal.

The Cannons come off a disappointing loss to the Chesapeake Bayhawks, a game that they lost in the final minute. The Cannons had the tying goal disallowed with less than 8 seconds left after a review by the refs. Against Chesapeake the Cannons were lead by Stephen Berger who had 4 goals, Kevin Buchanan who had 3 goals and 1 assist, and Paul Rabil who scored 1 goal and assisted on 3 others. The Cannons took a season high 4 penalties, for a total of 5 and a half minutes. The most significant of these penalties was a 3 minute penalty against Stephen Berger, where the Bayhawks scored 2 powerplay goals.

When the Cannons and Machine met earlier in the season the Cannons win came from strong performances by Will Manny who tallied 7 points, 4 goals and 3 assists. Stephen Berger also contributed offensively against the Machine with 4 goals and 2 assists.

The Cannons will need to play discipline lacrosse to beat the Machine, as both teams will be desperately fighting to get back to a .500 winning percentage on the season. The Cannons have lost 2 games in a row only once this season and will look to avoid doing this again.

"We need to get back to playing intelligently we need to be organized, unselfish and we'll be all set," said Cannons Head Coach John Tucker.

The game comes only 5 days before the Major League Lacrosse All Star Game between the MLL All Stars and Team USA. The Cannons are currently in a 4 way tie for the 4th and final playoff position, with the Ohio Machine, New York Lizards, and Charlotte Hounds.
