CANNONS MAY 27th VS. LONG ISLAND (LOSS 11-13)
In the first away game of the season, the Cannons struggled to maintain their momentum from the previous two games. Though they staged a late comeback, it was not enough to overcome the six goal lead that the Lizards held. The Lizards played a strong defensive game, double-teaming Paul Rabil and successfully keeping him off the scoreboard. Matt Poskay scored four goals during the game, but sloppy play kept the Cannons from capitalizing on his strong performance. Drew Adams, the Lizards’ goalie, was named the Bud Light Game MVP for his fourteen saves in net.

CANNONS JUNE 4th VS. CHESAPEAKE (LOSS 14-17)
The Cannons lost in their second road game of the season against the Chesapeake BayhawksMatt Poskay scored 4 goals in his fourth straight game to lead the Cannons.  Kevin Buchanan also scored 4 goals, with one a 2-point goal. Paul Rabil was ejected from the game early on due to an altercation with a member of the Bayhawks, leaving the Cannons without their leading scorer from last season. The Cannons showed a valiant attempt to climb back from as much as a 6 goal deficit but eventually fell 17-14.

CANNONS DRAFT MAX QUINZANI

CANNONS JUNE 12th VS. DENVER (WIN 17-12)
Under threatening clouds, the Denver Outlaws traveled to Boston to take on the Cannons, hoping to gain revenge for the season opener. The Cannons were able to withstand the onslaught, snapping a two game losing streak with strong performances across the board. Notable was new Cannon Max Quinzani, who notched three goals in his Major League Lacrosse debut, less than a week after being drafted in the first round of the MLL Collegiate Draft. His scorecard also earned him the MLL Rookie of the Week award. The Outlaws kept it close through the first three quarters, with Matt Brown and Drew Westervelt keeping the Cannons on their toes. The difference maker was in the fourth quarter, when five Cannons players scored while holding Denver scoreless. Paul Rabil earned Bud Light MVP honors with 3 goals and 3 assists, and Matt Poskay continued his hot scoring streak, adding 5 goals to give him the MLL lead with 21 goals and 24 points on the season.

CANNONS JUNE 20th VS. CHICAGO (WIN 19-11)
The Cannons enjoyed their first on-the-road win of the season on June 20th against the Machine. Kip Turner was named Bud Light MVP for his 21 save performance anchoring a defense that allowed just 3 second half goals. The Cannons saw a stellar game with 10 different players scoring, including multiple goals from Matt Poskay, Kevin Buchanan, Pat Heim, Ryan Boyle, Justin Smith, Matt Casey, and Paul Rabil.  The Cannons defense got in on the scoring as well with Jack Reid scoring his first goal of the season, and assists by Reid, Ryan McClay and Chris Passavia. Kevin and Mike Leveille of the Machine both had a stand-out game, but were unable to steal a win from the Cannons. Additionally, goalie Jordan Burke saw his first action of the season, coming into the game to relive Turner with four minutes left in the game, making 1 save and allowing 1 goal.

CANNONS JUNE 26th VS. LONG ISLAND (WIN 17-14)
The Cannons experienced victory last week against the Long Island Lizards in an exciting, come-from-behind win at 17-14. After a great first quarter and a dismal second, Jordan Burke entered the game in the second half, and proceeded to let only one Lizard’s goal in during the remainder of the game and give the momentum back to the team. Matt Poskay scored 6 goals, upping his league leading goal and point totals, with 34 points on the season. Paul Rabil started off the game on a high note, rifling in a goal within the first few seconds of the game, and following it up with two 2 point goals throughout the night. Kevin Buchanan scored three goals as well, while Mitch Belise’s goal early on in the 4th quarter gave the Cannons the lead for good, stunning the Lizards and thrilling the Cannons.

CANNONS JULY 1st VS. TORONTO (LOSS 13-15)
The Cannons traveled to Toronto to face the Nationals this past weekend, where the Nationals came up big to end the Cannons three game winning streak, winning 15-13. The first half was a high-scoring affair, with little defensive action by either team. The Cannons began the barrage of goals, opening the game with a 2-0 lead. Despite this promising opener, the Nationals came back with a fury and soon opened their lead to 6-4 early in the second quarter. The back and forth exciting offense continued as the Cannons fought back, leading to a tied 9-9 game at halftime. The second half of the game was a completely different affair, characterized by sloppy play and missed opportunities. Jordan Burke maintained his superb presence in goal with several crucial saves over the second half of the game, but he was unable to prevent the Nationals for capitalizing on turnovers as the Nationals were the only team scoring in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Rookie Steven Boyle scored his first Major League Lacrosse goal, and Toronto’s Jordan Hall was named Bud Light MVP of the game.

CANNONS JULY 10th VS. BAYHAWKS (WIN 16-10)
The Cannons traveled to Annapolis two weeks ago and avenged an early season loss to the Bayhawks, winning 16-10. John Ortolani played in his first regulation game as a Cannon and proved himself as a valuable asset, winning the majority of face-offs. The Cannons exploded off the opening whistle, with 9 goals scored by 5 players before the Bayhawks were able to get on the scoreboard. Paul Rabil, Matt Poskay, Kevin Buchanan, Max Quinzani, Pat Heim, and Justin Smith all contributed to the Cannon’ final score and ultimately, the win.

CANNONS JULY 24th VS. NATIONALS(WIN 18-10)
The Cannons remained undefeated at home in 2010, with an 18-10 victory over the Nationals on July 24. Matt Poskay was the man of the evening as he notched 5 goals and 2 assists. The fifth goal was the 134th of his career, overtaking David Evans for the Cannons all-time goal scoring lead. Kevin Buchanan and Mike Stone also had stand out games, as Buchanan recorded a hat trick while Stone scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season. Chris Eck scored his first goal since 2009, and helped his team win the game that clinched a spot in the 2010 MLL Championship Weekend on Aug 21 and 22 in Annapolis, MD

CANNONS JULY 31st VS. OUTLAWS (WIN 16-5)
The Cannons clinched their spot as the number one seed in the championship playoffs with a dominating win over the Denver Outlaws, beating them 16-5 in Denver’s home stadium. The Cannons dominated at the face-off position, as well as on both offensive and defensive ends. Kip Turner was named the Bud Light MVP for his 17 save performance, only allowing 5 goals. Chris Eck jump-started the offense by winning 19 of the games’ 24 face-offs. Three Cannons scored hat tricks and a total of eight different Cannons’ found the back of the Denver goal during the game.

CANNONS AUGUST 7th VS. BAYHAWKS (L 15-16)
The Cannons suffered their first home loss of the season against the Bayhawks, losing 16-15 in sudden-death overtime. Matt Poskay's hat trick left him with 45 goals on the season, a new Cannons single season record.  Jordan Burke and Kip Turner saw action in the game, and Paul Rabil was once again an invaluable asset to the team.
