Aspiring face-off specialists came from near and far to learn from Chris Eck this past weekend at his two clinics in greater Boston. The day began in Pembroke, where participants came not only from the surrounding South Shore towns but also Cape Cod and New Hampshire. In Marlborough, players traveled from as far as Syracuse, NY, Connecticut and Vermont for the chance to improve their face-off skills and technique from the Cannons specialist.
Through the program he's developed for Eck's Factor Lacrosse, Eck begins with the fundamentals of the face-off, making sure each player is at the right starting point. He then teaches specific moves to win face-offs, working with each player individually to be sure everyone is understanding and executing correctly. Finally, the players take numerous live face-offs against each other under the watchful eye of Eck and his coaching staff.
After a friendly compeition of King of the Hill, crowning the top face-off guy in the group, Eck and fellow Cannon Kevin Gould signed autographs for all the players.
Jeff and Joey from Melrose Lacrosse came out to the Pembroke clinic to get some great video of the clinic. Check out the clinic and an interview with Eck below.
