The Cannons controlled the game early on by having sole possession of the ball for the first minute and a half resulting in Matt Poskay scoring off of an assist by Max Quinzani. To end the first quarter, the Outlaws gained complete momentum of the game, scoring four unanswered goals. Continuing into the second quarter, the Cannons were unable to stop Denver's run as two more goals by Connor Martin and Sean DeLaney increasing the score to 6-1.

Pat Heim was able to cut the five goal lead as he scored off of the assist from Paul Rabil. Once again, the Outlaws responded quickly with a goal from Terry Kimener. Ryan Boyle found the back of the net to end the half with a score of 7-3 Outlaws.

With thirteen face off wins by Chris Eck in the third quarter, the Cannons began the second half strong by scoring first with a goal from Quinzani. Eight goals were scored during this quarter as the back and forth game left the advantage in the hands of Denver, 10-8.

Quinzani earned a hat trick after beginning the fourth quarter with a goal that brought the Cannons back within one for the first time since the start of the game. After a goal by the Outlaws that increased their lead back to two, Rabil scored his first of the 2011 season followed by another goal from Quinzani. Immediately off another face off win, PT Ricci scores his first goal in a Cannons uniform to give Boston the lead, 12-11. Denver's offense continued working hard as they scored two more goals to end the game with the 13-12 win. Scoring the game winner locked up Bud Light Player of the Game for Kimener.
