BOSTON CANNONS ANNOUNCE 2012 ROSTER
Cannons Open Their Season This Saturday at Harvard Stadium Against the Rochester Rattlers
BOSTON, MA – April 24, 2012- The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, today announced their 25-man active roster and 6-man practice squad for the start of the 2011 season, according to Cannons general manager Kevin Barney.
The Cannons open the 2012 MLL season this Saturday, April 28 at 7pm with a home game against the Rochester Rattlers at Harvard Stadium. The Cannons defeated the Rattlers twice last season, including a 16-15 overtime thriller to end the regular season at home.
“We’re pleased with the depth coming out of training camp,” said new Cannons head coach Steve Duffy. “It was a very high energy training camp. It’s our goal to be the MLL champions again this season, and we’re looking forward to starting toward that goal this weekend.”
The Cannons kept most of their MLL Champion roster intact through the Expansion Draft that filled the new Charlotte Hounds and Ohio Machine rosters. Reigning MLL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year Paul Rabil begins the season with the Cannons, along with notable veterans Matt Poskay, Ryan Boyle and Kyle Sweeney.
Four players will miss at least the first game of the season as they complete their indoor seasons with the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Mitch Belisle, Kevin Buchanan, Pat Heim and new addition Bill McGlone will joni the Cannons at the completion of their NLL seasons.
