Cannons Attend MDA Muscle Walk at Gillette Stadium
BOSTON, MA (March 31, 2014) – On Saturday, March 29th, the Boston Cannons front office staff, alongside midfielder Martin Bowes, and the Boston Cannons Dance Team, headed to the Dana Farber field house at Gillette Stadium for the 2014 MDA muscle walk.
The Muscle Walk united approximately 2,000 community members as children and adults with muscle disease, their families, and the public were invited to take part in this exciting community event. It was an inspiring group of people all participating in the fight back against muscle disease, all with goals of raising money and awareness to one day find a cure.
“The Cannons were honored to have participated in such a great event that helps so many kids around Boston and beyond,” said Cannons General Manager Kevin Barney. “There was a huge support system there that came together to walk, and we were happy to help in any way we could.”
Every dollar raised and donated all went directly to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and towards fostering research and providing vital services to families affected by neuromuscular disease. This year, the Muscle Walk and MDA Boston raised well over $250,000!
After a humbling afternoon of walking, fun, and inspiration, the Cannons look to prepare for their Season Opener on April 27th, more inspiried and motivated than ever.
