Boston, MA– March 25, 2016– The Bill Belichick Foundation has a rich history of supporting causes with a goal to provide coaching, mentorship and financial support to youth athletes, specifically football and lacrosse players. Belichick’s organization is consistently aiding and supporting worthy young athletes and has renewed its partnership with the Boston Cannons to reach out to even more lacrosse fans throughout Massachusetts.
The Cannons will be providing the Bill Belichick Foundation with 75 Gold Section Season Ticket Memberships to be dispersed to deserving lacrosse players and their families as part of this season’s charitable initiatives. Participants of the program will receive a Bill Belichick Foundation/Cannons t-shirt and Game day Foundation signs. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend a player ‘Meet & Greet’ and a select few program will receive a question and answer session with Cannons Head Coach, Sean Quirk, or Assistant Coach, Jim Murphy. Lacrosse programs throughout New England can apply on BostonCannons.com.
Inspired by his father, a former NFL player and Naval Academy football coach, his mission for this foundation is to bring the values of his family – the love of sports, coaching, and team building – to what he’s calling “the athletic leaders of tomorrow.” As of 2015, the Bill Belichick Foundation announced $325,000 in grants and scholarships would be awarded with an additional grant for $20,000 worth of lacrosse equipment (provided by ComLax) to be distributed annually to a deserving lacrosse team.
“The Cannons loved partnering with the Bill Belichick Foundation in 2015 and are proud to have them in our family again this season,” said Director of Corporate Partnerships and Marketing, Sara Berry. “We have a strong foothold in youth lacrosse and the Bill Belichick Foundation is just another way for us to give back and allow for youth players to grow into the professionals that we have on our team.”
In the foundation’s press release to announce the launch, Belichick said that his goals included recognition, support, and finances for those with strong potential who might need a little help. “Mentorship has been ingrained in our family and we take a team approach to just about everything we do,” said Belichick in the foundation’s release. “We have been helped by so many people and we look forward to helping others however we can by relating our experiences and life lessons through a variety of athletic programs and services.”
