BOSTON CANNONS ACQUIRE DEFENSEMAN BRODIE MERRILL AND
No. 8 PICK IN COLLEGIATE DRAFT AS PART OF TWO SEPARATE TRADES
Cannons complete trades with Denver and Florida involving 6 playersBOSTON, MA (Nov. 26, 2013) – The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today trades with the Florida Launch and the Denver Outlaws. The Cannons acquired defenseman Brodie Merrill, midfielder Martin Cahill, and the No. 37 pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft from the Florida Launch, and in a separate trade acquired the eighth overall selection in the 2014 Collegiate Draft and midfielder Will Mangan from the Outlaws.
The Cannons sent the No. 12 pick in the college draft, defenseman PT Ricci and midfielder Lee Coppersmith to Florida. To complete the deal with Denver, Boston sends midfielder Cam Flint and the 43rd overall selection in the college draft to the Outlaws.
“This was a huge step in our roster building process for 2014,” said Cannons General Manager Kevin Barney. “Coach Tucker did a great job in completing these deals and making our team better today.”

Merrill is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensemen in MLL history. He is a six-time Warrior Defense Player of the Year recipient and holds the MLL record for career ground balls with 711 in nine seasons. In 2013 Merrill tied for the league lead in points by a defensemen and was named to the All-MLL Team for the ninth consecutive year.
Cahill had a breakout season with the Hamilton Nationals scoring 14 goals including two 2-pointers. In 2011, Cahill had a career-high 18 goals for the Rochester Rattlers. Manganis entering his third season in Major League Lacrosse, having appeared in 18 games, totaling 16 goals and six assists. The Cannons now hold the No. 8, 17 and 19 selections in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft.
The Cannons will open their 2104 Season at home on April 26 against the defending MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks.
