Diogo Godoi is a native of Loudon, New Hampshire and attended Concord High School and a post-graduate year at Bridgton Academy in Maine. While at Concord, coached under Daren Premo, Godoi garnered an All-American selection in 2004 in the state of New Hampshire, an All-State selection, and anchored a defense that won back-to-back New Hampshire State championships in 2003 and 2004.
His lacrosse career led him to the University of Massachusetts where he played from 2006-2010. As a senior, Godoi was nominated in 2010 as a Tewaaraton Trophy candidate, which is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. He was also named a 2010 USILA Third Team All-American and 2012 First Team All-New England. Godoi started in 41 out of 57 games played, collecting 83 total groundballs and 64 caused turnovers.
2014 will mark Godoi's fifth season in Major League Lacrosse. Godoi has played for three teams: the Chicago Machine, Rochester Rattlers, and Ohio. The Chicago Machine selected him in the third round (No. 13 overall) of the 2010 Collegiate Draft. In his rookie season with Chicago, Godoi got six professional games under his belt and grabbed seven ground balls. While in Rochester (’11-’12), Godoi played in a total of 13 contests and picked up 23 groundballs in those games. The Ohio Machine selected Godoi in the 2013 Supplemental Draft (3
th Overall). Godoi played in nine games this past season, collecting six ground balls.
Diogo joins a Cannon’s Roster that picked up a MLL second-best 461 total groundballs in the 14 games of 2013.
