BOSTON, MA - April 21, 2011 - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today the addition of Jamie Munro to the team's coaching staff, according to Cannons General Manager Kevin Barney. Munro joins the staff as an assitant coach for the 2011 season.
Munro is currently the CEO of 3D Lacrosse and most recently served as Head Coach for the University of Denver's men's lacrosse team from 1998-2009. Munro was twice named GWLL Coach of the Year (2000 and 2006) and led the team to two NCAA tournament appearances.
"I've known Jamie for quite some time and I have a great deal of respect for what he has accomplished as a coach at the Division I level," said Cannons Head Coach Bill Daye. "He will bring a different perspective to our staff and we are excited to have him on board."
Munro was a 1989 All-American at Brown and following his collegiate career he was the assistant coach at Yale ('91-'98) before taking teh head coaching job at Denver. Munro joins the staff at a critical time as the Cannons are evaluating talent prior to naming their 25-man roster for the 2011 MLL Season. The Cannons have two more weekends of training camp prior to the season opener on May 14th at Harvard Stadium as they take on the Long Island Lizards.
