Cannons to Host Outlaws in Game Two
The Boston Cannons (1-0) will take on the Denver Outlaws (1-0) at Harvard Stadium this Saturday, May 21, at 7:00 pm, marking the second week of the 2011 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) season. The Cannons defeated the Outlaws in all three match-ups last season, winning twice at home and once on the road.
The Outlaws started this season strong with an 18-10 win against the Hamilton Nationals. Attackman
Brendan Mundorf had an impressive week one performance, earning him MLL Offensive Player of the Week. With a total of 10 points during his first 2011 game, Mundorf set a new Outlaws single-game record. As Denver’s all-time leading scorer with 212 points, Mundorf will be missed during this game against the Cannons. Along with five teammates, Mundorf is traveling to Prague with Team USA to participate in the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships (WILC). However, the Outlaws have signed Attackman
Billy Bitter who was the first pick in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Bitter is expected to perform well this season for the Outlaws after totaling 99 goals and 76 assists during his four years with the Tar Heels.
Five Cannons players will also be traveling as a part of Team USA in the 2011 WILC.
Kevin Buchanan, Jack Reid, Mitch Belisle and Greg Downing will all be in Prague this weekend in pursuit of Team USA’s first win at the WILC.
Paul Rabil will stay behind to appear in his first 2011 MLL game, but will meet up with the team in Prague on Sunday for the remainder of the tournament. The WILC runs from May 21
stthrough the 28
thwith teams from around the world.
Midfielder Paul Rabil will be welcomed back by the Boston Cannons after playing in the National League Lacrosse (NLL) championship last weekend. Although the Toronto Rock prevailed over Rabil and the Washington Stealth, Cannons fans will be excited to have Rabil back in Boston. The 2009 Bud Light Major League Lacrosse MVP ended the 2010 season with 37 points, 21 goals, and 10 assists.
The Cannons had a great start to the 2011 with a 15-12 win against the Long Island Lizards (0-1). Bud Light Player of the Game honors went to
